Nursery and Reception places available

The Lion Academy Trust is a new family of Good and Outstanding schools and nurseries for Walthamstow, committed to helping every child to achieve their best, whatever their starting point.

Across our three schools – Barclay, Sybourn and Thomas Gamuel you'll find the same mix of excellently-resourced classrooms and imaginative play areas, well-qualified staff and high aspirations for all. Either side of the regular school day we offer drop-off from 7.30am and pick-up until 6pm from Barclay and Thomas Gamuel and 7.45am to 6pm from Sybourn, providing a full range of activities and serving healthy, balanced meals throughout this time – reflecting what parents have told us is important to them.

Whether you already have a Lion Academy Trust school in mind, or would like to know more about all our schools, please take a look at the information below and make contact using the details listed. Alternatively, if you would like to have a chat directly about the Lion Academy Trust approach to teaching and learning please do get in contact on 020 8539 6777.

Why choose a Lion Academy Trust school or nursery?

  • Your child can develop their unique character and talents - our rich and varied curriculum, and well-resourced indoor and outdoor learning environments, mean every child can enjoy their learning and have high expectations for what they are capable of.

Barclay Primary and Nursery School – Canterbury Road E10 and Hoe Street E17

Recently judged by Ofsted to be Outstanding our Nursery welcomes children from the age of 3, and our Primary school is for children from Reception through to Year 6.

We aim to create a safe, welcoming and caring environment, where all are respectful and work together as a community. We believe in valuing different communities and religions and in respecting and understanding people’s lifestyles and background.

All children are supported and challenged to be the best they can be academically, with a strong focus on targeted teaching in every setting. We want your child to get the best possible start to their education journey and we will support them to develop a love of learning that extends throughout their future.

Sybourn Nursery and Primary School – 3 Sybourn Street E17

We welcome children from age 2 into daycare; from age 3 into our Nursery and from 5 into our Primary School where they stay with us until Year 6.

Most recently judged by Ofsted as being Good, with Outstanding leadership and management, we are an inclusive, caring school where every child matters. We recognise that all children have talents and abilities that should be celebrated, and part of our role is to help children to discover these.

If you need extended school hours we offer the reassurance that your child can stay within the school from 7.45am to 6pm, rather than having to travel to another provider's site.

We have both Nursery and Reception places available for September 2017 and would love to show you and your child around the school. Please get in touch with Rhonda Scott on 020 8539 4110 or email her by clicking here. To find out more about the school please click here.

Our thriving inclusive school offers Nursery places from age 3 and Primary places in Reception through to Year 6. We believe that all children and students have a right to have an excellent education in order to give them the best life chances irrespective of race, colour, creed or circumstance.

In common with other schools in the Lion Academy Trust we know that investing in well-qualified teachers and support staff, and forming excellent relationships with parents, is what results in happy pupils, who achieve well.
