Thomas Gamuel  Primary School’s Ofsted Inspection - “Pupils are Incredibly Happy at this school”

The Lion Academy Trust are delighted to share the latest Ofsted inspection report and outcomes following the section 5 inspection completed on 13th January 2026.

Based on the new inspection programme - schools are no longer given a single word outcome - but are graded against a RAG-rated dashboard of measures. There is no correlation between previous outcomes from inspections and the findings of this new framework. 

The inspection report shows that Thomas Gamuel is setting strong standards of delivery in Achievement, Early Years,  Leadership and Governance and Personal Development and Wellbeing. The inspectors were impressed by the manner in which the school caters for children of all abilities - in a safe and secure manner.  

Justin James, Chief Executive Officer of the Lion Academy Trust said “We are delighted with the Ofsted report for Thomas Gamuel, where Paul Acheson and his team are working hard every day to deliver the quality of education young people from 2-11 deserve. The new framework sets demanding grades for schools to be assessed against - but it was clear from the inspection process that Thomas Gamuel is performing to a very high standard.”

The report highlights the “expertly designed curriculum” and how “leaders make decisions in the best interests of all pupils” - reflecting the positive work that the entire team at Thomas Gamuel Primary to deliver excellent teaching and learning outcomes across all settings in the school. 

Paul Acheson,  the Headteacher at Thomas Gamuel added “I am delighted with how the school was reflected in Ofsted’s report and am so proud of every single member of the team who bring their professionalism and focus to work every day. We always aim to be a school children and families can be proud to attend and this report validates that approach and showcases how our strategies and structures are making a sustained impact for all our pupils.”
